Biography:
Rising on the strong shoulders of southern jazz, the Wilmington North Carolina trio Sci Fi, successfully released their first CD, SCI FI in July, 2008. Already becoming a favorite on the scene, Sci Fi has been a part of a handful of the largest gatherings on the east coast, and has shared the stage with countless national acts of whom dominate the instrumental circuit. Sci Fi’s unique musicality encourages appreciation by all listeners. Their style ranges from classical Jazz, to trance like tones of a high energy electronic dance scene. Behind the scenes, Sci Fi can be found testing themselves with other projects in a studio or on stage, learning how to diversify their range, fueling the trio with unique sounds and techniques. Sci Fi’s accomplishments on and off stage are impressive for a band in their sophomore year. The trio has individually and collectively become well known in the east coast scene.
The noteworthy strides, made in such short order, in addition to what the band’s inner circle calls “incredible new material and a powerful, evolving synchronicity”, add to an already sharp sense of optimism.
The words and music on their first released album find their roots in jazz, fusion, funk, reggae and house music. The charismatic trio of improvisational‐minded musicians comes alive on stage amidst a richly crafted full‐frontal sonic experience. Sci Fi offers a complete collection of original songs that is nothing less than hypnotic.

Sci Fi is currently in the studio working on yet another album. Working with White Rabbit Productions and Bluewater Studio, Sci Fi is kicking out their first full-length album.
Sci Fi has one full-length live cd, FAT EXPRESSIONS, available for download and sale.
Sci Fi has also been incorporated in such albums as Fat Ellis' first full-length album 'DIRTY DAY', recently released in March 2005. "Dirty Day" literally jam-packed with heavy key solos and dirty bass lines, the heart of Fat Ellis. Dirty funk, space jazz, even rythym and blues made it onto this album!
'LIVE AT THE NEIGHBORHOOD THEATRE' was recorded in Charlotte, NC in 2005 and consists of six songs.
'THE STARSHIP HAS LANDED' is Fat E's original demo cd consisting of five studio tracks recorded at the Cape Fear Studio in Wilmington, NC and one live track recorded at Ziggy's in Winston-Salem, NC.
